David Maimon, Ph.D.

Chief Science Officer

Dr. David Maimon is Chief Science Officer at VIDOCQ. His role at VIDOCQ consists of conducting research to assist our clients with cyber risk challenges as well as developing new tools and techniques which protect our clients’ assets and assist with responses to cybercrime and fraudulent activities. David is also Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Georgia State University (GSU) and the director of the Evidence-Based Cybersecurity research group. He is also a research associate with the HUJI Cyber-Security Research Center at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Prior to joining GSU, David held academic positions in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice with the University of Maryland, and in the Department of Sociology with the University of Miami. Over the years, Dr. Maimon worked with numerous governmental agencies and private sector organizations on various cybersecurity and anti-fraud related projects. In 2015, he was awarded the Young Scholar Award from the White-Collar Crime Research Consortium of the National White-Collar Crime Center for his cybercrime research. His research interests include cyber-enabled and cyber-dependent crimes, computer hacking, computer networks vulnerabilities to cyberattacks, and decision-making processes in cyber space. His research has led to numerous scientific publications. In 2022, he also co-authored the book Evidence-Based Cybersecurity; Foundations, Research, and Practice published with Routledge (Taylor & Francis). David earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Ohio State University in 2009.
